Connections: Decision making and the political mind.
(This is the second of my on-and-off series based on the BBC series Connections, you can read the first back from July 2010)
If you follow me on Google+ (if you’re not interested in using G+, you can find also follow the ATOM feed), you will likely have noticed several themes running through the content I’ve been reposting. Sometimes, I’ve included some analysis or personal commentary, but often not.
In an attempt to revive my Connections series, I’ll be reposting material from my Twitter and Google+ feeds, but not as single links or posts. Instead, I’ll be posting groups of related articles, videos, et cetera, usually with a few notes drawing them together to present a bigger picture. Today’s theme: the political mind.
First, an article by @AndreaKuszewski: Your Brain on Politics: The Cognitive Neuroscience of Liberals and Conservatives.
Second, a study that just came out of Cornell: People are biased against creative ideas.
Third, an article from the Scientific American: The Ideology of No.
Fourth, an NPR interview: ‘Incognito’: What’s hiding in the Unconscious Mind.
Finally, a TED talk: Are we in control of our own decisions?
I’ll let you chew over this one, but I think you see where I’m going.
